A classic muesli-style mix for variety and enrichment feeding. Mr Johnsons Rat & Mouse Mix is commonly used as a base component in custom dry diets, offering a wide range of textures to encourage natural foraging behaviours.

Using this mix as a base

This is a muesli-style base mix. Many keepers combine it with a plainer, more uniform feed (or another base mix) to help reduce selective feeding while keeping meals interesting.

Suggested base mix ratios

  • Balanced blend: 50% Mr Johnsons Rat & Mouse Mix + 50% second base mix / nuggets
  • Higher variety: 60% Mr Johnsons + 40% plainer mix (adjust based on what gets left behind)
  • Fussy eaters: start 60%/40% and tweak over 2–3 weeks for best results
Tip: introduce changes gradually over 10–14 days and keep an eye on what’s being picked out. If selective feeding is heavy, increase the plainer component.
