Baileys Soft & Lite

Mix Booster (high-fibre enhancer) for DIY rat diets. Use as a supporting component, making up around 5–10% of a balanced dry mix to add fibre, texture, and a bit of “forage-y” balance.

What is Baileys Soft & Lite?

Baileys Soft & Lite is a low-starch, high-fibre blend originally designed as a light, digestible feed. For rats, it’s best used as a mix booster rather than a main food — a small % that helps round out the rest of your DIY mix.

How to use it in a mix

  • Typical inclusion: 5–10% of the total dry mix
  • Best paired with: one or two base mixes plus a protein element
  • Feeding style: mix evenly or scatter-feed for enrichment
Tip: Particularly useful for balancing richer or cereal-heavy mixes, and for increasing fibre without pushing fats/sugars up.

Why add Baileys Soft & Lite?

  • Boosts fibre and chew time
  • Low starch & sugar compared to many base mixes
  • Adds texture to encourage foraging
  • Helps balance very “treaty” or selective mixes
